About US

Steve grew up Jacksonville, FL with his mom and stepdad and lived there until the age of 22 when he moved away to continue his education at the University of Florida.  Steve graduated with a degree in architecture from UF in 2002.  Following that, he took a job as a construction project manager.  The company moved him a variety of places every six months until Steve finally decided to settle in Birmingham where he met his wife, Daria.  For the past six years Steve has continued work as a construction project manager, overseeing the building and finance of movie theaters, Samford University’s tennis facility and parking deck, the university president’s home, and a variety of churches.

Daria grew up in Owensboro, KY, the middle child of three girls.  She lived in Owensboro until the age of 18 when she left for college in Birmingham, AL at Samford University.  Daria graduated with an Early Childhood and Elementary Education degree in 2000 and has taught in a variety of settings, including kindergarten, fourth grade, sixth grade, and juvenile inmates at Pollsmoor Prison.  Daria returned to school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and received her master’s degree in agency counseling.  She worked briefly as a counselor, but her love for teaching drew her back into that field after a short time.

Steve and Daria met at the Church of Brook Hills, where they are both members.  After dating for one year, they became engaged and were married on July 1, 2006.  They were absolutely thrilled to welcome their first child, Ethan Alexander, into their family on August 8, 2009, and are enjoying all the adventures that life with a newborn entails!
